SOAK visits the Food Shelf

During their month long program, campers from SOAK visited the Food Shelf twice.  The first visit was to find out what the Food Shelf is all about, how it works, who comes and the services that the Food Shelf provides.   Some campers were unaware that the food was free.  Others were surprised that being a resident of Vermont is the only requirement to receive food.

The second time the campers visited, it was to bring a donation of  more than 150 pounds of food.  Besides the staples of pasta sauce and soup, they brought a few goodies to distribute as well. Although the Food Shelf concentrates on supplying healthy food, we know that  sometimes you just need a treat.  Thanks to everyone who participated.
